GAP PROJECTS
Hurricane Melissa - Jamaica
Hurricane Melissa hit Jamaica as the third strongest storm ever recorded in the Atlantic. GAP has sent several pallets of relief supplies to the island, including tools, tarps, boots, soap, and solar kits.
The barrels GAP sends down arrive with water filters and spigots to help address clean water scarcity issues.
Weβre sending volunteers down to deliver goods to the affected areas and to rebuild roofs and clear debris in the St. Elizabeth and St. James Parishes.
Asheville Food Programs
Due to Hurricane Helene, SNAP benefit delays, and economic issues, there are still many in Asheville who need help with hot meals and groceries. Thanks to everyone who donated after Hurricane Helene! The projects you helped create have provided over 250,000 meals and all sorts of additional help.
Antique Tobacco Barn hosts the GAP Little Dipper Trailer in serving our community farm to table hot meals. Big thanks to Gaining Ground Farms for all of the vivacious produce! Help yourself to a sliding scale hot meal; pay what you can & give what you can afford!

At Rosettaβs Kitchen, the Everybody Eats Program continues, a years long tradition of never turning anyone away who truly needs a meal.

Bridge, is an app quickly growing beyond Asheville. It helps connects food providers and consumers to all the hungry tummyβs who could use a delicious meal. By connecting restaurants with programs like Rosettaβs above to food providers who have an abundance and want to share the love.
One Generation Away has been sending boxed meals out across the US & we help with their monthly food drive here in Western NC with Covenant Community Church members local GAP volunteers & interns.
The Gift of Giving
The Gift of Giving continues the tradition in San Diego, Asheville, and New York this year as over 1,500 bags are given out to houseless individuals this winter. In addition to the food and personal care items in each bag, we also pack another gift bag for them to gift forward.

Hurricane Helene
From the day after Helene hit Asheville, and for over a year beyond GAP has seen Western NC through all the phases of a disaster and its aftermath. Weβre riding the recovery together as we navigate our other projects.

Over 20,000 meals served
GAP served hot meals at The Heights Center in Fort Myers FL to Hurricane survivors, as well as other donated household items and hurricane cleanup equipment. Our overall meal cost was $1.50 per meal, thanks to our volunteers and food donors.
Ukrainian Refugees Support

As Ukrainian refugees flee into neighboring countries, GAP is sending aid and grants to our partner organizations through out eastern Europe. If you have goods to give, contact us to get them on the next container shipping over. The situation is very fluid, But GAP is committed to monitoring it and making sure all donations & aid flow toward the organizations best situated to help throughout each stage of the crisis.

Over Million Dollars of Direct Aid Given so far!
GAP has been coordinating with local food banks and grassroots organizations nationwide to distribute food and critical equipment since the start of the pandemic. In addition, GAP has mobilized kitchens to serve hot and healthy meals with local volunteers in California, North Carolina and Washington DC. The work carries on today!

To strengthen the supplies of food banks in the hard-hit areas affected by the wildfires of 2020, GAP sent crews up and down California and Oregon throughout the second half of the year to deliver food and aid to 12 impacted communities.

4.5 Million Glasses of Drinking Water Purified
Instability in Haiti continues to affect the availability of clean water. Today, more than 50% of Haitians live with contaminated water, risking digestive and skin borne illnesses. GAPβs Haiti water purification project provides an easy to use and distribute solution for families across Haiti.

Grassroots Aid Partnership came to the nationβs capital in support of racial justice and in recognition of the compounding effects of the pandemic on underserved communities. GAP stood in solidarity and in support of the DC communities through four weeks of uplifting spirits with music & art, amplifying voices with open mics, nourishing people through hot meals, washing hands and arming them with COVID-19 safety & sanitation items.

After back-to-back Hurricanes devastated Nicaragua, GAP assisted in the response by giving a $10,000 grant to the local organization best positioned to help at the community level. Cruz Roja Nicaraguense received the grant and used it for rescuing, sheltering, feeding and rebuilding.

Hurricane Michael left the panhandle of Florida twisted and mangled. GAP worked with its longtime standing partner United Peace Relief to set up a distribution center and a field kitchen that served up hot healthy meals to all that came.

GAP set up a massive feeding center after hurricane Florence created unprecedented flooding. GAPβs kitchen was able to feed 14,000 hot meals and 42,000 lbs of additional packaged foods over a monthβs span.
